This event was very successful with many
fascinating demonstrations and workshops, from artists who covered a
wide range of techniques and styles; card making (Carol Hanforth),
pottery cottages (Dave Sturgess), Thetford Flower Club, oil painting
and pencil drawing (John Watson), sugar craft (Sylvia Armes),
fossils and pastels (Leigh Shelton), candle smoke art (Bob Cail) ,
and painting with felt (Victoria Bush). People from the local
community enjoyed working with these artists and watching them at
work. Some also contributed a piece to the Thomas Paine Friendship
quilt which is being created in Thetford. Ken Walton’s
atmospheric watercolours were on display in the Arts Centre.

Ned Pamphilon created a vibrant
painting of Thetford and also displayed his portrait of Charles
Burrell.
We were delighted the Mayor of
Thetford, Pam Spencer and her husband visited this event.
The Art Surgery run by John Mayes
helped artists with their techniques and queries, covering all
different types of media.
A Community Art Work was developed
by local people called Fish Tales originated by Eleanor Chubb. This
was followed later in the week by an entertaining Poetry and Prose
Evening with Robert Kybird.
The Open Art Jack Pilling
Competition was very well supported with nearly 100 paintings
displayed by artists of all ages. Each of the entries was of a high
standard, superb quality and very individual. Congratulations to
all.
Thank you to all our sponsors, and all the volunteers
and friends who helped to make this worthwhile event a success.
